Australian Gymnastics Championships:

A wrap up of the comp season for our International and National Levels Athletes.

Since the start of the year, our athletes in International Levels Yth U13 through to Senior, along with our National Levels 5-7 athletes have been working hard in preparation for the all-important National Championships. These were held on the Gold Coast from the 17th-22th of May and it certainly was a fantastic week of competition for our state team representatives.

The year began with a trial and then the Senior State Championships in April. These were our athlete’s two opportunities to secure their spot on the NSW State Trampoline and Tumbling Team.

Our collective results at Senior State were strong, seeing us finish the competition in 2nd overall club champions. From this comp our athletes won 20 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 6 bronze medals.

With 26 athletes selected to the state team, 13 of them also competing in double mini trampoline, the preparations for the 2024 Australian Championships moved into full swing.

Nationals are split into two competitions, National Levels and International Levels. First up was International Stream. With 16 athletes competing across all age groups in tumbling and dmt, it was a busy few days for our athletes. Selected athletes from international age groups also have the chance to compete in the all exciting team events. We were very well represented on the NSW teams. It was all KSTP athletes on the men’s tumbling team and 3 out of 4 KSTP athletes in the women’s tumbling team, both of which took out the gold medals. We also had an athlete on the women’s Dmt team who also took out top spot. In the all-around team event, KSTP athletes took out both tumbling spots and NSW was strong across the board, walking away the overall champions. Then it was onto the next generation, our National Levels 5-7 events. For many of these guys it was their first time representing the blues and we could not be more proud of everyone’s efforts. Our 12 athletes put out some great performances, doing themselves, their state and our club proud.

At the end of the week our medal tally was:

13 Gold medals and new National Champions

3 Silver medals &

5 Bronze medals.

We’d like to congratulate all NSW team representatives along with our club coaches on all the work they put in to achieve such results.

This brings the competition season to an end for another year for these athletes so it’s back to the gym to set goals and targets for next year.
